Hi Sakura, I checked the S2N forum a few hours after the M8.9 earthquake and was relieved to find that you were ok. Although things look pretty bad at the moment the situation seems to have stabilized somewhat (?). I hope that the workers at the Fukushima plant are able to solve the problems they are facing and which is aggravating the crisis and hampering the recovery process.
However, I am confident that Japan will recover from this catastrophe sooner than many believe. When things return (close) to normal I think it is important that Japanese citizens actively lobby your government to quicken the transition from nuclear power to renewable energy. Its really important, both for the current and for coming generations. They will inevitably inherit the radioactive waste that is produced which is likely to end up polluting the environment and directly or indirectly affecting their health.
Anyhow, that my take on it.
Take care.

thx your worry tech...yes we all know nuke is danger for health and other....so we got hiroshima..nagasaki....you have known. but we live such small islands and is almost mountain. and our population is 120 million. In Tokyo alone, a population is 10 million. and our industry needs big energy...we had started to think about next energy. ..cant find better energy than nuke now..but we must find next..and its not problems just for japan.
now our engineers and military, fireman..They are working desperately. I hope the situation will be better and I'm praying for their safe return to their family above all.

You might be aware of these already but I recommend the homepages of Nature and Science magazine as good sources for finding unbiased information about the ongoing situation at Fukushima. These two journals are the world's two most prestigious scientific journals and publish research articles from a wide range of relevant scientific fields. Definitely worth a look!
